Man United 2 Leicester 1 – The Garnacho effect, that first-half dirge, no VAR and Dorgu on the right?

Manchester United secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford. The match was marked by a lackluster first half, with United trailing 1-0 at halftime due to Bobby De Cordova-Reid's goal. Manager Ruben Amorim's decision to introduce Alejandro Garnacho at halftime proved pivotal. Garnacho's dynamic play revitalized the team, leading to Joshua Zirkzee's equalizer. In stoppage time, Harry Maguire scored a controversial header from a Bruno Fernandes free-kick, securing the win. The absence of VAR in this round allowed Maguire's potentially offside goal to stand.

The first half was characterized by a lack of energy and cohesion from United, leading to criticism from pundits like Roy Keane, who described the performance as "shocking" and "poor." Amorim acknowledged the team's subpar first-half display but praised the impact of the halftime substitutions, particularly Garnacho's contribution.

Regarding Patrick Dorgu, the new signing struggled in the first half, leading to his substitution at halftime. His performance highlighted the challenges players can face when adapting to new teams and high-pressure matches.
