The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is currently underway, running from February 19 to March 9, 2025. This One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament features eight top teams: Pakistan, India, Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Matches are being held across venues in Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with some games in the United Arab Emirates due to certain teams' preferences.
In the opening match on February 19, New Zealand defeated host nation Pakistan by 60 runs in Karachi. The following day, India secured a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Dubai, thanks to Shubman Gill's unbeaten 101 and Mohammed Shami's 5-53.
On February 21, Australia is set to face England in Lahore. Australia will be without their three seasoned fast bowlers—Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Patrick Cummins—posing a significant challenge to their bowling lineup.
In another match on the same day, Afghanistan is making its Champions Trophy debut against South Africa in Karachi. South Africa's opener, Ryan Rickelton, scored a century, providing a strong foundation for his team.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has suffered a setback with batter Fakhar Zaman ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
The tournament follows a format where the eight teams are divided into two groups of four. Each team plays the others in their group once, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals.
